COSMILE EUROPE APP
The COSMILE Europe app, developed by Cosmetics Europe, the European association of cosmetics manufacturers, is a product scanner that provides users with quick access to scientifically sound information on cosmetic ingredients. Users can scan the list of ingredients on a product label or the product barcode to do this. The app is currently available in 13 European languages throughout Europe. More languages will follow.
You can find more information about the app at the COSMILE Europe app website, e.g.
- how the COSMILE Europe app benefits allergy sufferers.
- Guide to fragrance allergens

"The COSMILE Europe app gives consumers more transparency when shopping for cosmetic products. The app provides reliable information on almost 30,000 ingredients - verified, scientifically validated and tested by independent experts."

Biodiversity in cosmetics
Biodiversity on our planet is declining. This not only affects the biodiversity of plants, animals and other life forms, but also the diversity of habitats. It has a dramatic impact on us all, as humans are dependent on an intact natural environment in many ways. Protecting biodiversity and treating nature and people with respect are therefore essential for companies.
Many cosmetics companies have recognised this and are already taking countless measures to counteract the loss of biodiversity along the entire supply chain.
Inspiring measures taken by companies can be found here

Biodiversity is becoming increasingly important for companies.

"It is becoming increasingly important for cosmetics manufacturers to integrate biodiversity into their business processes. As part of our cooperation with the IKW, we can support association members in integrating biodiversity even better into their corporate strategy."

DnHexP in cosmetic sun protection
Sunscreen is important. It protects the skin from the sun's harmful rays, preventing premature aging and diseases such as skin cancer. Contrary to some media claims, cosmetics containing UV filters are not contaminated with the harmful substance di-n-hexyl phthalate (DnHexP) in significant quantities.
Further information on this topic can be found here under Sunscreens are safe (in German language), including
- Possible sources of DnHexP in the human body
- Value for the provisional tolerable daily intake (TDI)

Why the detection of a banned substance does does not necessarily pose a health risk is explained here: How dangerous are traces of banned substances in cosmetics? (in German language)
