In Dialogue

For the industry

We remain in contact and in dialogue - with authorities, politicians, the media, consumers and industry - to represent the interests of the sector.

And with our member companies in order to advise and support them. To this end, IKW offers a wide range of different events: Face-to-face events such as conferences, scientific and technical information events or workshops, digital formats in the form of briefings and webinars and international events such as trade fair appearances and business initiation trips.

Representation of interests

The representation of economic policy interests is becoming increasingly important. This is because the pressure on companies is increasing, but in our view, politicians are not acting close enough to the economy. Accordingly, IKW is also involved in a wide range of discussions with political decision-makers in ministries, the Bundestag, the European Parliament and the Commission.

Our appeal to politicians:

  • Less bureaucracy
  • A sense of proportion in regulation

In 2024, for example, talks were held with Christian Lindner, Federal Minister of Finance, Dr Marco Buschmann, Federal Minister of Justice, at events organised by the Mittelstandsallianz (BVMW) and the Vereinigung der hessischen Unternehmerverbände (VhU),
Nancy Faeser, Federal Minister of the Interior, and Boris Rhein, Minister President of Hesse.

Foreign trade fairs

IKW supports its member companies' international activities by applying for and organising trade fairs abroad. These support SMEs in particular in realising growth outside Germany's borders.

Funded trade fairs will take place in these regions in 2024:

  • Miami / USA
  • Bologna / Italy
  • Shanghai / China
  • Dubai
  • Hong Kong
  • Mumbai / India

The Foreign Trade Fair Programme of the Federal Republic of Germany enables German companies to participate in international trade fairs and exhibitions at favourable conditions. The selection of events for the German Pavilion is based on an application submitted by IKW to AUMA (Association of the German Trade Fair Industry), which is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

Symposium 25 years of further training for safety assessors

Together with the German Society for Scientific and Applied Cosmetics (DGK), the IKW Beauty Care division has been offering training courses for cosmetic product safety assessors since 1998. The aim of the training courses is to keep safety assessors up to date with the latest knowledge. The 25th anniversary was celebrated on 16 June 2023 with a high-calibre scientific conference on the Petersberg near Bonn.

ParentsBloggerCafé

As part of its public relations work, the IKW Household Care division presented the topic of laundry washing at the ‘Styleranking ElternBloggerCafé’ in Düsseldorf on 25 October 2023 with small experiments on the ingredients of detergents and a lecture entitled ‘Protecting the environment and saving money when doing laundry’.

Stakeholder workshop

The FORUM WASCHEN stakeholder workshop in Berlin on 7/8 September 2023 was dedicated to the European Union's Green Deal. Christian Kühn, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection (BMUV), began by highlighting the BMUV's priorities and recognising the work that FORUM WASCHEN has been doing for over 20 years.

"Associations are mediators - between industry, politics, authorities and the public. They therefore make an important contribution to society."
