Investigation of the influence of the size of a dosing aid on the dosed amount of detergents
On behalf of IKW, the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Krefeld conducted a study entitled "Investigation of the influence of the size of a dosing aid on the dosed amount of detergents". In the process, 97 test subjects loaded washing machines with textiles as usual and measured the amount of detergent they considered suitable alternately with two dosing aids of different sizes, which hold 60 and 100 milliliters respectively.
On average, the test subjects dosed less washing powder than would have been required for their washing machine loads. The difference to the recommended amount of washing powder was more pronounced when using the smaller dosing aid than with the larger one. In addition, it was shown that the washing machines, which theoretically hold 7 kilograms of laundry, were loaded with an average of only 3.5 kilograms of textiles, but were assessed as "full" by the test subjects.
