Instructions for use of self-tanning products
As a rule self-tanning products do not contain any UV protection. For a large number of products a corresponding mention is made on the package (e.g. “Does not contain any UV protection”, “Does not protect against the sun”). Only a few do not contain this information.
The public authorities in charge of monitoring cosmetic products contacted IKW stressing that such information would be useful for reasons of preventive consumer protection and should be made on a voluntary basis on all products. The IKW Technical Expert Committee supports this proposal of the surveillance authorities and recommends the companies to review their cosmetic products in view of the mention of such an instruction for use.
