In the case of systems for filling cosmetic products in retail trade, the legal requirements of the EC Cosmetic Products Regulation and the respective national regulations in Germany and Austria must of course be fulfilled. Particular attention should be paid to compliance with the cosmetics GMP guidelines. Since filling, which otherwise takes place under strict hygienic conditions during industrial production, is relocated to retail, well thought-out and comprehensive hygiene concepts are required at the point of sale. In addition, there are a number of points to consider on the part of manufacturers and retailers, which range, for example, from the selection of the respective filling system, the organization of the filling process to the labeling of the filled products and the correct choice and checking of the filling containers.
In the publication “Essential Aspects of Filling Stations for Cosmetic Products in the Retail Trade”, representatives of IKW together with those from the CVUA Rhineland (Chemical and Veterinary Investigation Office Rhineland), the CVUA Karlsruhe (Chemical and Veterinary Investigation Office Karlsruhe), AGES Wien (Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety) and LAVES Lower Saxony (Lower Saxony State Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety) have compiled detailed recommendations for manufacturers and retailers so that self-service by customers or service by staff can take place successfully. The article was published in SOFW Journal 10/20.
